Endo The Movie!

Recent kregen we de volgende mail (in het Engels), hoewel wij niet geheel achter de standpunten van makers staan, willen wij jullie deze niet onthouden.

Hello,

I’m reaching out regarding an exciting upcoming short film project which is about Endometriosis, called End-O.

As background, I am a film producer based in London, currently finishing my MA in Film Producing at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Myself and my co-producer Alexandra Blue, were approached by writer Elaine Gracie, who has Endometriosis, with a wonderful script which is a comedy about her own experiences with the condition.

Elaine is a writer who has generated a lot of excitement in the film industry - she currently has a feature film in development with Film 4, and has a television series pilot in the works. Not only is Elaine a very funny writer, but she’s incredibly honest - which is why her voice needs to be heard when it comes to talking about endometriosis.

We are really passionate about raising awareness for endometriosis, and by making this film we will make it accessible and entertaining - whilst also being educational, and hopefully encouraging direct action to improve the lives of millions of women affected by the condition. This is a professional film production, and the finished product will be distributed world wide via film festivals, receive broadcast distribution and eventually be released online.

The project has been selected for a new scheme called NFTS Platform!, which is a collaboration between the NFTS and Kickstarter - we were selected from a large number of applicants to take part, and will receive in-kind support with equipment and crew from the NFTS, and mentorship from Kickstarter. The Kickstarter aspect of the initiative sees us attempt to raise £12,000 over 30 days so that we can bring this story to life.

The work that you have been doing to help the cause is fantastic, and with that in mind, I thought you'd probably be interested to know what we're up to (and hopefully spread the word among your network). We would love your support in raising the funds to make the film a reality. This can be done by helping us spread the word in the following ways:

- Liking our social media pages:

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/endoshortfilm

Twitter: https://twitter.com/endoshortfilm

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/endoshortfilm/

- Re-posting our Kickstarter video on your social media platforms (which you can find pinned at the top of our FB and Twitter), making sure to include a comment about why it is important and calling people to action back us by making a donation, whatever size that may be

- Including us in any organisational newsletters, or sending an email to your members about the project. We are happy to help draft something if useful, and can provide lots of lovely images to help get people excited.

Our campaign ends on the 1st October, but the earlier we spend the word, the more chance we have of successful raising our goal - so if you are able to get on board this week it would be greatly appreciated. Everyone who donates receives a private link to view the film once it’s completed, and there are some other wonderful rewards for the larger donations as well. Without these funds raised through Kickstarter, we won’t be able to make the film and spread the word about endometriosis.

We have also included an information pack on the film so you can get a sense of who we are, what we are about, and why we need your support.

We really look forward to hearing from you and continuing a dialogue about how we can increase endometriosis awareness together.

All the best,

Kate (the producer)
