Worldwide survey of Diaphragmatic Endometriosis

Who are we?

Robert Sutcliffe is a Liver and Pancreatic surgeon based in Birmingham, UK. Robert has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery and has recently developed an interest in DE since working alongside Chris Mann (Consultant Gynaecologist) in The Endometriosis Clinic (www.theendometriosisclinic.com).

Rachel Piccus is a Medical Student at University of Birmingham, UK and is interested in a long-term career in surgery.

What does the survey involve?

It is apparent that Diaphragmatic Endometriosis is an under-recognised condition and that the diagnosis is frequently delayed often by several years, resulting in prolonged suffering for affected patients. There is evidence that surgical excision can significantly improve patients’ symptoms and may be achieved with minimally invasive surgery in many cases. The aim of this study is to collect data from a large cohort of patients worldwide who have already undergone surgery for Diaphragmatic Endometriosis, to understand the potential delays in diagnosis and treatment, as well as improving our understanding of the short and long term success rates of surgery.

Why should you participate?

Although the results from this survey will not directly affect you, by contributing your data to this study you will allow us to analyse data from a large cohort of patients. The results of this study will be disseminated to GPs (family physicians) and gynaecologists worldwide in an effort to improve awareness of this condition, and will hopefully help other patients in a similar position to yourself.

Can you withdraw from the study?

This survey is completely anonymous, which means that we will not collect any identifiable data. If you agree to participate in the survey, please follow the link below. Once you have completed the survey, it will not be possible to withdraw from this study due to the fact that the data is anonymous.
